Aww, this is so sad and so funny, from The Amazing Sneijderman in the No HOFers post. Great joke.
Here's a very simple La Russa The Drunk joke from Steve U in the No HOFers post. This comment sort of explores how much life is left in this particular line of humor - it has very little to do with or say about the content of the post and relies mostly upon just how funny we think it is that Tony La Russa is a notorious drunkard. Well, hold on, it is a creative, new approach, and its ingenuity is ultimately what earns the +1s. But I think it's pretty clear that this line of humor still feels like the funny kind of piling-on and not the tired kind of piling-on, and it'll be interesting to see how much longer that will continue.
Here's a great, great thread in the Skeevy Thunder Fan post featuring Same Sad Echo, IronMikeGallego, SavetoFavorites, and Steve U. This is so much better than the average movie/song title pyramid. Great stuff.
This is a hysterical little sequence from Body By Bacardi in the Andy Reid post. I started laughing at the second line and it only got better. But right in the second line you know where the joke is going and the treat from there is in the execution. That's very, very funny. Later, Body By Bacardi dropped today's Comment of the Day in the Lawyerin' Joe Amendola Deadspin HOF post. Simple, straightforward, and hilarious.
Here's a rather dark recontextualization-like joke from RMJ=H in the Double Dribble post. It's got a bit of a funky delivery - it's sort of our of order, isn't it? - but the reference has that right mix of cleverness and ugliness, that brutal oof that knocks the laugh out of you. Good stuff.
And finally, I enjoyed the turn in this gag from Raysism in the Chipper Jones Deadspin HOF post. Here I thought Raysism was making an argument, and maybe he was, but he managed to turn it into a funny little sequence. Well done.
Total Fucking Duds
JKurrent = Moron.
I hate to do this, but this is just a putrid, woefully flimsy and unimaginative offering from otherwise-solid-commenter FreemanMcNeil in the Lawyerin' Joe Amendola Deadspin HOF post. Yowza. I know he can do better than this. This joke deserves a sad trombone in the worst way.
Keep kickin' ass, funny-makers. See you in DUAN!
